Simplicity, Carefully Considered
A classic band has no detail to hide behind. The width, curve and finish all contribute to its character, whether it sits beside an engagement ring or is worn on its own.
The Right Width
A fine band offers a delicate line; a little more width brings a stronger presence. Compare proportions on your hand and beside your engagement ring before deciding.
The Shape of Comfort
Traditional court, flat court and other profiles each have their own character. Consider the exterior shape and the way the inside of the band rests against your finger.
Your Preferred Precious Metal
The warmth of gold and the cool colour of platinum create different impressions. We can help you choose with your existing jewellery, preferences and maintenance in mind.
A Considered Companion
A straight band can make an elegant pairing when the engagement setting allows enough room. If it does not, we can discuss a shaped alternative that respects the original design.
Choosing Wedding Bands
What is a court-shaped wedding band?
A traditional court band has a rounded outside and a curved inside. A flat court typically combines a flatter exterior with a curved interior. The exact dimensions affect the feel, so compare profiles as well as their names.
What width works best beside an engagement ring?
There is no universal answer. A narrower band can keep the focus on the solitaire, while a similar width creates a more even pairing. Consider the engagement ring’s shank, setting height and the combined width on your hand.
Will platinum or gold scratch?
Both can develop marks with wear. Platinum may acquire a soft patina, while polished gold can show fine scratches. This is a normal characteristic of precious metals; ask us about appropriate refinishing for your band.
Can a narrow band be engraved?
It may be possible, but the available space limits the inscription. The band’s width, depth and hallmark position all matter. We can confirm suitable wording and lettering before the ring is made.
Will a plain wedding band fit every engagement ring?
No. A low setting, projecting basket or unusual silhouette may prevent a straight band from sitting closely. We can assess your engagement ring and explain whether a straight or shaped band is more suitable.
Can a classic plain band be resized?
Many can, but the alloy, construction and amount of change need assessment. An engraving may also be affected. We will check the ring before confirming the method and whether the alteration is appropriate.
