A Different Way to Catch the Light
A considered finish changes the character of a wedding ring without changing its meaning. Explore textured and detailed bands, with guidance on the width, profile and care that suit your preferred design.
The Character of a Finish
A satin surface offers a softer reflection, while polished details bring definition. Compare the available finishes and ask us about other textures through a personal commission.
A Defined Edge
Bevelled edges and fine lines introduce structure to a simple band. The relationship between these details and the overall width shapes the design’s presence.
Proportion on Your Hand
A detail that feels subtle on a broader band may have more presence on a narrow one. Compare widths and profiles before deciding on your preferred proportions.
Details, Considered Closely
Surface finish, edge definition and the smooth interior all contribute to the final feel. Ask us about the construction and maintenance of the style you are considering.
Choosing Patterned Bands
What’s the difference between satin and polished finishes?
A polished finish reflects light clearly and has a brighter shine. A satin finish uses fine surface texture to soften reflections. The underlying metal may be the same; it is the treatment of the surface that changes the appearance.
Does a satin finish stay the same forever?
No. Friction can gradually smooth the texture, while daily wear adds small marks. The pace depends on your routine. A jeweller can assess whether the original finish can be refreshed without compromising the design.
Are patterned wedding bands scratch-proof?
No. Textures can make some marks less noticeable, but precious metals still show wear. Protect the ring from pressure, rough surfaces and hard knocks rather than choosing a pattern on the assumption it cannot be marked.
Can a patterned wedding band be resized?
It depends on the construction and pattern. An alteration can interrupt continuous grooves, engraved detail or texture, and some designs are unsuitable. We will explain the possibilities for your selected band before manufacture.
Can I change the finish or width of a patterned band?
Some designs allow adjustments, while others depend on fixed proportions. Share your preferred width or finish and we will confirm whether the existing design can accommodate it or whether a bespoke commission is more appropriate.
How do I clean a patterned wedding ring?
For a suitable plain-metal band, use mild soapy water and a soft brush, then rinse and dry. Avoid abrasive cleaners or vigorous polishing that could alter the texture. Ask for advice before attempting to restore a satin or detailed finish.
