The Correct Finger
Finger sizes can differ between hands. Always measure the exact finger on which the ring will be worn.
Finger size can fluctuate. A well-fitting ring should feel comfortable at the base of your finger, while passing over the knuckle with slight resistance.

Measure when your hands are at a comfortable, normal temperature—not immediately after exercise or exposure to heat or cold.
Repeat your measurement two or three times. A consistent result is more useful than a single reading.
A good ring fit should pass over the knuckle with gentle resistance, then sit securely without pinching.

A professional measurement using jeweller’s sizing rings is the most dependable method. At home, measuring a well-fitting ring is usually the best starting point.
Paper or a non-stretch measuring strip is preferable. Soft string can stretch or pull too tightly, creating an inaccurate result.
Measure when your hands are comfortably warm and repeat the process at different times of day. Avoid measuring when your fingers are unusually cold, hot or swollen.
The correct choice depends on the knuckle, band width and design. A broader band may require more room, while a fine ring should still feel secure.
They often do because more metal sits against the finger. Confirm the final size using a band of a similar width wherever possible.
If possible, borrow a ring they wear on the correct finger and measure its internal diameter. If you can’t borrow it, press the ring gently into fresh Blu Tack to leave an impression, then measure across the inside of the imprint. This gives an estimate; a jeweller can confirm the size.
When Precision Matters
Home measuring provides a useful indication, but professional sizing is recommended for engagement rings, wedding bands and designs that may be difficult to resize.
During your consultation, we can consider the finger, knuckle, band width and intended design before confirming the most appropriate size.
